Anandi, is the epitome of grace and beauty. She is the only daughter of Sriram Gokhale. She is a 20-year-old beautiful girl. Inspite of being beautiful, her marriage is not getting fixed, as she is blind. Anandi has done her education through Braille.

Anandi was born in Gokhale family after a along time. At present they are old when Anandi is grown up. They are concerned about Anandi's marriage, otherwise who will take care of her after them. No young guy from a good family is ready to marry her because of blindness.

Prakash Kalbhor, Sriram Gokhale's friend visits him at his residence in Mumbai, Sriram shares his problem relating to Anandi with Prakash. Prakash starts looking for a groom for Anandi and in a fortnight he finds one. The prospective is groom is from Mumbai and he is the eldest son of Shri Ashok Paranjpe. The date for two families meeting gets fixed, and happiness spreads in Sriram's place.

On the decided date the families met, Sriram and his wife are happy seeing a good looking young lad. But Prakash introduces him as the boy's younger brother Sudhir and next to him is the boy standing Vinayak who has come to see Anandi. Vinayak is a 35-year-old man with dark complexion. Seeing this, Gokhale and his wife are disappointed.

Vinayak has crossed 35 years of age, there could be two reasons to his single status so far - it could be because of his looks or him being busy in his business. Vinayak likes Anandi and gives his consent for marriage. But Gokhale and wife ask for some more time to make up their mind. Prakash convinces them that the boy is from a well to do family and even the horoscopes of Vinayak and Anandi are matching. Hearing all this Sriram Gokhale and wife do have no option but to say yes to the proposal with a heavy heart. Anandi has no idea about her prospective husband's look, age etc. She has agreed to marry Vinayak as her parents want so.

Vinayak and Aanandi's marriage get solemnized. The entire Paranjpe family is happy due to this auspicious marriage ceremony except one person that is Manjiri, wife of Vinayak's younger brother Sudhir. Manjiri never wanted this marriage to happen, as there may be issue of Vinayak, which will result in split of family's property and her ambition to see Ayush, her son, being the sole inheritor gets shattered.

On the bridal night, Sudhir sees Vinayak walking up and down in front his own room. Sudhir enquires about the reason of his restlessness, Vinayak then comes out with the lurking self doubt and fear. If Anandi comes to know of his ugly look once she gets her eyesight back then she may leave him, which Vinayak doesn't want as he had fallen in love with her at the first sight. He feels that he has taken advantage of her blindness and got married. Vinayak feels guilty. Sudhir tries to explain Vinayak that they need each other as the circumstances are such. Hearing Sudhir's logic Vinayak gets confidence and breathes a sigh of relief to enter his room. Manjiri was hearing the discussion of the two brothers from a distance and at the same time her mind was planning for the future.

Next day, in the morning Vinayak comes out of his room, seeing him some of the family members pass some naughty comments, he was about to get out of the house but Manjiri comes in his way and conveys to him that Panditji has advised not go for any issue for a year's time, if a son/daughter is born in a year's time then possibly it may be a blind baby. Hearing this Vinayak gets a shock and fails to understand how to react to the situation. Manjiri is pleased that she has hit the right spot.

Vinayak becomes indifferent towards Anandi, he keeps her at a distance. She is at pain realising his indifference and feels that he is staying away, because of her blindness. Seeing all this Manjiri is still not satisfied and schemes to add fuel to the fire.

One fine morning Manjiri rushes into the house in a very happy mood, the family members try to understand the reason of her pulsating heart and the face radiating with happiness. She reveals that she has shown the report of Anandi to Dr. Bhosle and according to Dr. Bhosle Anandi can get back her eye sight. All in the family are over joyed hearing this good news but a line of tension crosses Vinayak's face. A feeling of insecurity sips into him, he realises that Anandi will leave him the day she gets her eye sight back. And Manjiri has very quietly read the on going trail of thoughts in Vinayak's mind.

It's all about the fear of Vinayak, imaging himself as the unhappy husband once Anandi gets eye sight. The story is all about Anandi's shattered dreams.

Hello Inspector

Production : Suyog

Director : Vijay Kenkre

Music : ?

Release year : 1996

No of shows : 60

Genre : Suspense/Drama

Sunil's Character : Mohak - Sunil plays a character with a negative shade in this play.

Songs from the play : ?

Cast :
Sunil Barve, Bhakti Barve-Indamdaar, Vijay Kenkre, Virendra Pradhan, Kavita Laad, Virendra Pradhan, Arun Nalawade.

Story at a glance: (Source: Indian Express - 15 Jan 1999)

The curtain opens to a charmingly-crafted set of a rich family's living room. An engagement is in progress, with cognac and affections much in evidence. The family of four, with the new son-in-law, is in a boisterous mood. But the euphoria is dented by an unexpected visitor, a police inspector. In his rather pushy manner, he announces that a girl died recently after consuming pesticide and he has every reason to believe that this family is involved in the tragedy.

What follows is an excellent unravelling of the plot that traverses two acts, ripping off the masks donned by these family members, reducing them from high-society somebodies to the bare human beings that they are, with the same failings and attitudes. The sequences weave around each character, changing the mood to one of tension, suspicion, anger and frustration. The basic tendency of humans to defend themselves falls in line with the writer's intention of exposing the family's weaknesses. The falling apart of the family, their succumbing to the overpowering onslaught of the inspector, brings to fore the gullibility of even the indomitable.

Story at a glance: (Source: IMDB)

This is a story about a simple devoted middle aged housewife who listens & follows every word of her family which misuses her in all ways & makes her serve them. On one fine day her close female friend changes her life entirely by giving her an outer magic trick (Or is it some magic already present in her ?)

Mrs.Arti Mangalkar (played by Neelakanti patekar) stays with her family in one of the prime locations in Mumbai. Her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law & a daughter take her for granted. Her life has become miserable & she has no standing in her own house. (incidently she is the owner of the house). Things take a turn for the better when she meets an old friend (Daya Dongre). The friend conducts an experiment in which their souls (or rather personalities) get swapped. The protagonist becomes bold & oozes with confidence. She changes the way the house looks at her & starts setting things straight.

There are other sub-plots involving Ashok Saraf (daughter's lover: brilliant as usual) & one involving an orphan Sachin & Varsha Usgaonkar.
